Academic Education Pathway
Our flexible Academic pathway is designed to meet individual learning needs and inspire academic achievement.

What Do We Do?
Our services provide tailored support, to help our young people feel safe, valued, and ready to grow, whatever challenges they’re facing. All staff at JEP Youth Engagement are "DETERMINED to support young people to fulfil their potential".
Our Occupational Studies offer, delivered at our fully equipped hub, provides practical, hands-on learning in skills such as Carpentry, Bricklaying, Mechanics and Joinery.
Our learners work towards NCFE Level 1 and 2 qualifications, earning credits and compiling portfolios that showcase their skills. The programme integrates real-world applications, preparing students for future careers.
Service users can incorporate Occupational Studies into a wider educational placement at JEP or attend solely for this provision if they don’t require broader curriculum support. It’s a flexible pathway designed to meet individual interests, strengths, and goals.
We are proud to offer Hair & Beauty qualifications at JEP Youth Engagement. This course equips young people with industry-recognised qualifications, widely respected across the Hair & Beauty Industry.
Delivered by tutors with real-world industry experience, and with access to professional-grade equipment and resources, the course offers learners the chance to achieve VTCT qualifications, providing both the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to pursue a career in areas such as Skincare, Makeup Artistry, Hairdressing, Holistic Therapies and more.
All course content is delivered on-site at JEP's state of the art Salon Space, at our Bolton Education Hub.
Hear What People Have To Say
See the impact for yourself! Hear from the young people and families we support about how we’re making a real difference in their lives.
N, Key Stage 2
"I like that everyone always greets me really nicely when I come in everyday. I like the trampoline, all my friends and my teachers. Whenever you accidentally make a mistake, they don’t shout at you, they say it’s ok and you talk about it and make it better. They try to make our work ok for us and help us when we need it."
Parent of C, Key Stage 1
"C really enjoys attending JEP. He often speaks about the friends he’s made and the teachers there, and he always looks forward to going and taking part in the different activities. I feel that C has developed a strong bond with his teachers, and I’ve noticed a real improvement in both his behaviour and his academic progress. JEP has truly helped him grow into a funny, kind, and lovely boy, with his manners improving every day."
Parent of A, Key Stage 4
"Since A started at JEP, myself and the family have seen a significant improvement in his confidence, wellbeing and enthusiasm. He often talks about his day and what he has been doing. Prior to JEP we struggled to get him motivated for anything with him often lying in bed most of the day. Although not a morning person, he has never refused to attend JEP or had a meltdown when returning home, which we would often see when he was attending mainstream school."
Parent of E, Key Stage 4
"The Hair & Beauty course has helped E in so many ways; the course she has done at JEP has motivated her a lot and the staff have been amazing with her!"
Parent of J, Key Stage 4
"I believe this placement has been amazing on J, he's changed so much since attending and has matured which is amazing to see. He enjoys telling me what he's been doing when he attends which is lovely to hear."
Carers of L, Post-16
"Thank you all at JEP for your support with L. She loves attending JEP, which tells me a lot about the work you do in building relationships with your young people."
Parent of G, Key Stage 4
"I just wanted to say thank you for all the support you guys offer G - We're a mile away from the position we were in 12 months ago! G is always proud of his achievements, especially his bird box at Salford and passing his units in the NCFE. He shares with us any baking he has done. He’s more helpful at home and thoughtful and caring. Keep up the good work!"
J, Key Stage 4
My experience at JEP has been wonderful. Since I've joined here I'm actually waking up happy to go to school, I'm coming home with a smile on my face. I've improved in in lessons, actually focusing and presenting work. The teachers here treat you more like family than a student!
Parent of A, Key Stage 2
Thank you so much for everything you've done for A over the last two years, being at JEP helped her so much and she was able to develop strong friendships with staff members which has given her the confidence to get along with teachers too and improves her educational experience. Her time at JEP has been truly transformative for her social skills and emotional wellbeing and I've no doubt she'll never forget the memories, I know I won't. Thank you all so much"
Family of D, Key Stage 4
"I would like to thank the JEP Team, I feel the consistency routine, structure and expectations have pushed D to become a better version of himself. These changes in him are reflecting not just at home but also with his behaviours at JEP."
Carers of M, Key Stage 4
"I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to JEP and its incredible staff for the outstanding support they have given M. Throughout her time with you, JEP has shown remarkable patience, resilience and unwavering commitment. You never gave up on her, even when the road was not easy, and this had made a tremendous difference in her life."
Family of R, Key Stage 4
"Thank you for all you have been doing for R. He enjoys going to JEP and really enjoys his cooking classes. R has also made me and his dad very proud producing some brilliant work in lessons - Thank you JEP!"
T, Key Stage 2
"I like it at JEP and like all of the staff. It is fun and I have learned a lot."
Family of L, Key Stage 4
"JEP has been paramount in L being where he is today. We are a million miles aways from the broken and completely disengaged young person he was when he first attended JEP. He now has the basic skills and confidence he needs to help him build a future that he can be proud of, as a family we can't thank JEP enough for all the time, care and attention you have given to our son!"
Family of B, Key Stage 2
"B has loved his time at JEP, he has come home every day in a great mood and is always telling us stories about what he’s been up to."
D, Key Stage 2
"It’s fun at JEP, there are good things to play with. My work is amazing and people help me everyday"
Family of K, Key Stage 4
"K is really enjoying his sessions, it is a huge positive for him. I’ve never seen him engage as well as he does with JEP - They have been absolutely fantastic with him. JEP has gone above and beyond and I am so grateful."
S, Key Stage 3
"I really enjoy my days at JEP and all the staff help me to be the best I can be"
Family of F, Key Stage 4
"JEP were amazing with F. You brought out the best in him and you believed in him, which restored his belief in himself and made him feel like an equal again. You didn’t just help him, you helped the whole family as they thought everybody had given up on him, as the school system dismissed F as a lad with issues instead of giving him the chance to express himself and show who he really was. I could never thank you enough and you should all be so proud of the amazing work you do in helping children feel they are equal and allowing them to blossom and be heard."
